September 26 doesn't work that way. The same Saturday, the county offers the FXBG Fall Fairy and Dragon Festival at Mattaponi Winery starting at 11:30 a.m., a Licata Group event at Wilderness Run Vineyards starting at noon, and the Cannonball Century, a long-distance bike ride, launching from YMCA Spotsylvania SACC at 7 a.m. Three legitimate reasons to leave the house, none of them within walking distance of the other two.
That's not a scheduling accident so much as a pattern. Spotsylvania's wineries, breweries, and resort venues sit scattered around the county's edges rather than clustered downtown, and when they program events, they tend to land on the same high-traffic Saturdays without coordinating with each other.
